- BMTC Vajra day pass (Gold day pass) costs Rs 90.
- BMTC Vajra monthly pass costs Rs 1500/- if you use your own ID card(PAN card, voters card, company ID etc). This is called Volvo Friendly Pass
- If you have BMTC ID, Volvo Monthly Pass costs Rs 1450/-
- Monthly and day passes can be obtained directly from the Vajra conductor.
- Note that none of these above passed are valid on Vaju Vajra Buses(Airport services). Airport services route can be identified with "BIA" in their route number.

Procedure for getting BMTC ID card
1. Carry a stamp size photo of yours.
2. Go to Majestic Bus stand(It is also possible to get this done from Shantinagar from 1st to 6th of every month)
3. Go to the bus pass counter, pay 1450 (For monthly pass) + 100 (for BMTC identity card)
4. Get the identity card laminated from the next counter and you are good to go.
5. ID card is valid for 4 years.
6. For all subsequent months, you can get the new monthly pass directly from the conductor(no need to go to bus stand)
FAQ
1. The airport buses (with route numbers startng with BIA) do not allow the Volvo Vajra(Gold) Pass. You need to buy a separate Rs2450/- pass for that.
2. Bus pass is valid only for that month, and available from the previous month 29th to current month 7th or so. You cannot buy a pass on th 22nd ans use if till next month 22nd.
3. Volvo passes are only on monthly basis. You will hav to buy new passes every month end from the conductor.
4. Volvo Vajra (Gold) passes are valid for ANY BMTC bus, EXCEPT the Airport Volvo services(BIA routes)
Till what time will the BMTC office will remain open on weekdays to get the id card ?
ReplyDeleteAs far as I remember, BMTC offices are open from atleast 10am to 5pm. You can get the ID card from Majestic bus stand even on Saturdays(not sure of other bus stands)

I guess just the student ID from your school should suffice. You can call the BMTC call centre numbers 12667 and 25550565. They are very helpful (though sometimes not very accurate)

i got a volvo pass done this month for the first time. i wasn't aware of this id card thing. the bus conductor took 1350/- i don't have a bmtc i.d card. can i get it done now? how much will i have to pay for it? or can i show just my pan card or dl as id proof?

Strictly speaking the 1350 pass neeeds a BMTC ID Card and a conducto can deny its usage. So I suggest you get the BMTC ID Card from Majestic on any day, or go to selected bus stations like shantinagar from 1st to 6th of any month. You can use your existing pass with that

ReplyDeleteYes. The Vajra Gold monthly(as well as daily) passes can be used on any BMTC bus except Vayu Vajra (Airport services). The airport services are Volvo buses in red colour identifiable by their route numbers which start with "BIA"

ReplyDeleteYes. You can show your existing BMTC bus pass and the BMTC ID, and the Vajra conductor will give you the next month's pass.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if you are ok for the 1400/- card, you can show any of the government approved ID card, and the conductor will issue the bus pass. No need to go to shantinagar even for the first time.

1. I'm studying in Part time(sat & sun classes). Am i allowed to get the monthly student pass (950rs) using my institute ID card? If so, Just the ID card is enough or it req. some more documents.

I had been to majestic to get my ID card done. They have asked me to get it done after 1st. Is it possible for me to get the ID card in Banashankari bus stop or in Srinagar depot since it is not possible for me to go to Majestic again.

@skandy - you wont be allowed to use the 1450 monthly pass for any part journey in the BIAL VOLVO buses.
